Dear Rt Hon. Gordon Brown,
 

THOUSANDS of Tamil civilians have been killed in a massacre inside the "safe zone" TODAY. This is mass slaughter and another Srebrenica.

Similar to the NATO intervention in Kosovo, we urge you and the Government of United States to send US and British forces; and international monitors to this region immediately to stop further massacres tomorrow. THIS GENOCIDE CANNOT HAPPEN UNDER YOUR WATCH.

The Sri Lankan military, a South Asian army with a track record of atrocities carried out with impunity, has entered the "Safe zone" directing its entire firepower into this region full of internally displaced and terrorised people - more than 250,000 men, women and children who have fled to a narrow strip of coastal land away from the advancing perpetrators of genocide.

The international community by its silence has enabled this genocide to happen.

Does the international community want the majority of civilian population massacred and the remnants falling into hands of a regime that has used cluster bombs, white phosphorous, chemical weapons and attacked hospitals in blatant disregard of Geneva conventions and International law?

Is the international community going to be silent and support a regime that has brutally suppressed media freedom?

There can NEVER be a military solution to this ethnic problem. Is the International Community creating another Iraq by its silence?
